My Lord,
I have the honour to report, for Your Lordship's information and orders, the arrival here of Mr Sterling, Attorney General.
Victoria, Hongkong, 25th March, 1848-
Your Lordship will observe that on Mr. Hulme quitting Hongkong, Mr. Campbell, the Acting Attorney General, was appointed Acting Chief Justice. Mr Sterling arrived here on the 20th Instant, and considers that he should resume the duties of Attorney General.
Alterations were made before I took charge of the Government, and I am not prepared to make any alterations prematurely.
